This photo shows the one and only Vought F8U-1T two-seat trainer climbing for altitude after take-off. Converted from a production F8U-1, s/n 143710, the design was never produced.  First flight occurred on February 6, 1962. For the next 16 years, the aircraft spent time in a European sales tour, then the Navy Test Pilot School, NASA, Edwards AFB and back to Vought in Grand Prairie, Texas.  July 28, 1978 was the end of the line. Engine trouble caused the crew to eject.
